Cornell requires an academic evaluation and an evaluation from a veterinarian. You are encouraged to submit any additional evaluations from veterinary and animal experiences. These evaluations can come through the VMCAS eLor system.
VMCAS requires a minimum of three evaluations to go through their application eLor system (they will take up to 6).
Guidelines for Evaluators
We have provided “Guidelines for Evaluators PDF” that we encourage you to give those writing you a letter. This assists them in knowing and understanding some areas of interest to the Admissions Committee.
Information for Re-Applicants
Entrance into the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree program is very competitive. In some cases it could take a couple of application cycles to gain admission into the program. We encourage students to reapply and offer advice in ways to strengthen an application for a future cycle.
Previous applicants who would like to reapply must complete the VMCAS application (the Cornell Supplemental Application is no longer required) as well as submit all supporting documents. Starting this year, VMCAS will allow applicants from the previous year only access to their application to update. All supporting documents (eLors, transcripts, etc.) would need to be submitted again.
The Admissions Committee at Cornell University's College of Veterinary Medicine requests information certifying that students are in good standing at their institution. We also request notice of all disciplinary actions or proceedings involving the applicant. Applicants should complete the top part of the Dean's Certification form and give it to the Dean of Students office where their last degree was completed. The deadline for this form is March 15, 2018.
