Students in first year canine labCredit Requirements

Prospective applicants should complete a minimum of 60 semester credits by the time they enroll into the DVM degree program (a bachelor’s degree is not required). 

At least 30 of the 60 credits must be completed at the upper-division level at a four-year college or university.

Recommended sequence of prerequisite courses:

1st Year

2nd Year

3rd Year

  • English Composition or Writing Intensive Courses (full year)*
  • Biology (or Zoology) I and II with labs *
  • General Chemistry I and II with labs *      
  • One Semester of Organic Chemistry
  • General Physics I and II with labs* 
  • Biochemistry (half-year; lab recommended, but not required; 4 semester credits)
  • One Semester in an Advanced Life Sciences Course

* If on the quarter system, you will need 3 quarters to fulfill the full year requirement.

OR (for 60 credit option)

1st Year

2nd Year
