The Dean is the academic, administrative, and community leader of the College, responsible for further developing the capacity of the College and moving associated programs forward in reputation, distinction, and influence. The dean is expected to expand the intellectual, financial, and human assets of the College, while serving as a critical member of the senior leadership team of Cornell University.
The various areas of the college are led by a team of assistant deans, associate deans, department chairs, and directors who report directly to the dean. These positions are responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the day-to-day operations of their particular units and working collaboratively with the dean to lead our broad mission. The assistant deans oversee various high-level administrative functions of the college. The associate deans and department chairs lead efforts that advance programs and initiatives and support the scholarly activities of the faculty in their pursuit of excellence in teaching, research and service.
